The Los Angeles Professional Chapter of ACM SIGGRAPH and the Visual Effects Society Present:
“Experiential Narrative in Games and Film”
The story business is confused. The audience is uninvested and noncommittal. They want more. Big effects, big action, big humor aren’t enough. They demand an experience. They want to be involved. The interactive entertainment community holds the promise and gift of experience-based storytelling. Filmmakers and game designers should work together to create a seamless experience where one medium informs and enriches the other. This convergence will combine the emotion and drama of film with the interactivity of video games to create stories in which we can participate as well as watch. How? What? When? Where? – these are the questions we will pose to a panel of leading filmmakers and game designers. What is the model and how are we going to build it together?
