Legends of Oz: Dorothy’s Return, the first animated movie from new studio Summertime Entertainment, opens today on 2,500 screens, Box Office Mojo is reporting. A “sequel” of sorts to The Wizard of Oz, the movie finds Dorothy returning to the Yellow Brick Road to take down an evil jester (voiced by Martin Short). So far, the musical has been getting absolutely pummeled by critics, with the movie only getting a “freshness” rating of 14% over at Rotten Tomatoes, with the consensus being that “faced with the choice between staying in or seeing Legends of Oz: Dorothy’s Return, most filmgoers will be forced to conclude that there’s no place like home.” Most are expecting the movie to open in the $4 million range.
